Cross Country

Last week the weeks of cross country training came to a head with our school cross country being held. This year we had the cross country at school because the ground at the Botanics was still too wet after all the rain we have had. Luckily the day was fine and sunny!

However the excitement was the same! The five year olds had their races first just around the front field. six, seven, eight and Kahikatea nine year olds had a different course and the seniors had a different one again.

Lots of parents turned up to watch so there was a good audience to cheer everyone on.

It was all over in a short amount of time and then it was time to go back to the classroom and wait for the end of school. We were all exhausted!

Rm3’s Suter Trip

On the 19th of August Rm3 went to the Suter Art Gallery to see the Arum exhibition. It was full of white arum lilies in patterns on the wall and hanging. The whole room was white and it was that colour because it was supposed to be peaceful and relaxing.
Esther said that while we were in that room we should remember things that have gone in our past lives. She told us there were 700 lilies made for the exhibition.
Then we made our own plastic flowers out of one litre milk bottles and three coloured plastic bags. We dedicated them to someone or something that has gone in our lives. We tied them up outside the Suter Gallery so everyone can see them. It was really fun and relaxing. We hope can see our flowers!

Cross Country practise

Every day of school apart from Friday the Kahikatea Syndicate does cross country practise. We line up in age groups at the front concrete. First we do stretches. Choi in Rm 6 blows the whistle and the first group goes. They start running around the block, then the next group goes and so on. When we get back from running we walk round the front concrete area two times. Then to warm down we do some more stretches then go to morning tea. By the time we've finished our cross country practise we'll be alot fitter for the big cross country race!
