On October 14 Room 3, 13 and 16 went to Teapot Valley for an overnight camp. Kerry, our leader, first introduced the camp rules. Our activities included included Mini Jeep, parachute, Archery, the Maze, the Burma Trail, trampoline, Eds Alley, the Confidence Course and ball games. We also had the chance to go on their awesome outdoor waterslide and in the FREEZING salt water pool.
After tea we had our camp concert and our possum hunt then went to our cabins and off to bed.
On day two the year 2s camp for their day visit. We were divided into teams again for Top Team games. The winning teams got prizes from the treasure box.
Camp was an awesome experience and we can't wait to go again!

Cross Country

Last week the weeks of cross country training came to a head with our school cross country being held. This year we had the cross country at school because the ground at the Botanics was still too wet after all the rain we have had. Luckily the day was fine and sunny!
However the excitement was the same! The five year olds had their races first just around the front field. six, seven, eight and Kahikatea nine year olds had a different course and the seniors had a different one again.
Lots of parents turned up to watch so there was a good audience to cheer everyone on.
It was all over in a short amount of time and then it was time to go back to the classroom and wait for the end of school. We were all exhausted!

Mask Parade
Last week was the Nelson Mask parade which is part of the Arts Festival. Every 2 years our school enters the competition and this year we decided to go for a big picture effect based on our school theme for the year the Future starts NOW.
We had a river in the middle with fish and ducks swimming on it, Pohutukawa trees and Kowhai trees along each side and Tuis (5 year olds) next to the trees. Our class had made Kowhai trees and we wore glittering gold wigs and leaf masks.
We were lead by Room 13 and Room 9 playing chime bars and wearing recycling bins and Room 7 gave out information to the public about our theme. We were all singing the 3R's song.
We were obviously effective because we won the Supreme prize as well as the schools section.
